Canada Needs Some of that Obama Magic

January 21, 2009

An article I missed in my last post about Canadian media coverage of Obama:

Carol Goar – We could use some unifying balm: “We don’t have a Barack Obama to rally us. None of our political leaders inspires excitement or trust or a willingness to sacrifice….What is needed – and Canadians may to have to supply it themselves – is a dose of Obama’s unifying balm.” Helpfully, Goar offers three suggestions for how individual Canadians can forge a national consensus: 1) Resist the urge to take sides after Tuesday’s budget; 2) Make it clear to all MPs that their job is to work through their disagreements, not plunge the country into political instability; and 3) Keep in mind that budgets can’t be judged by numbers alone.
